Nathan Piwowarski presents to Munson resident physicians about medical aspects of legal competence

On April 23, Nathan Piwowarski will present “Capacity & Older Patients” to the family practice residents of Munson Medical Center. Nathan’s presentation will discuss the primary care physician’s role in probate proceedings, including guardianships, conservatorships, and will and trust contests. Nathan will also discuss the different forms of advance medical directives, and their role in health care decision making.

The presentation will draw from Nathan’s experience representing clients in numerous probate matters, including:

  • Protective proceedings to authorize special needs plans and long-term care plans;
  • Contested guardianships;
  • Undue influence challenges to wills and trusts;
  • Testamentary capacity challenges to wills and trusts; and,
  • Breach of fiduciary duty claims against trustees, personal representatives, and agents acting under a durable power of attorney.
