Nathan Piwowarski received his B.A. degree in 2002 from Albion College and then went on to earn his J.D. degree in 2007 from the Michigan State University College of Law, both Summa Cum Laude.
In his Municipal practice, Nathan helps local townships, villages, and cities navigate the maze of laws governing land use, elections, grant administration, and other local government operations. Nathan also has an extensive Estate Planning and Administration practice, with particular focuses on contested estates, special needs planning, and elder law. Additionally Nathan contributes to the firm’s litigation practice, and has written briefs submitted to the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court.
Along with David Porteous, another partner with the law firm, Nathan is a registered lobbyist with the State of Michigan and represents the interests of his clients in the Michigan Legislature. Before joining McCurdy, Wotila and Porteous, Nathan served as an aide to Senator Michelle A. McManus, and was responsible for policy areas ranging from local economic development to natural resource and environmental quality regulation.
Nathan is married to Dr. Jennifer Piwowarski, a family practitioner at Great Lakes Family Care in Cadillac. Born in Cadillac, he appreciates the beauty of Northern Michigan as he hikes, kayaks, and cross-country skis.
